Meeting Minutes
March 20, 2007, 5:30 – 6:30 pm, Pratt Manhattan, Room 610

SILSSA Officers in Attendance:
President, Lauren McBride
Vice President, Laena McCarthy
Secretary, Alicia Gibb
Meeting started with an introduction of the officers by
Lauren.
Lauren advertised of the LOC trip, which Nick Jackson is
planning. Being there at 6am SHARP was stressed.
The M-Learn Vice-President was in attendance, the first
meeting of M-Learn will be next Wednesday, March 28 in room 610 at 5:30.
Alicia advertised Keyword and went over due dates and
types of articles needed. Ads are also needed, Lauren volunteered to put
together a media kit. The group agreed $25 was not too high for an ad
placement.
Graduation Party, May 10, 2007
- 25-30% of SILSSA budget goes to parties.
- This will take over the whole 6th floor.
- Food and wine will be provided.
- Friends and relatives invited.
- Laena and Bonnie will be graduating therefore two
positions on SILSSA will open
SILSSA Officers Needed
- Democratic choice of new officers.
- Please spread the word of recruitment
- Time commitment is one full school year
- Must be present at meetings
- There is a small fellowship with positions
- Lauren will send a list of duties and open positions to
the listserv
America Reads presented by Peggy West Barton
- Read In at Pratt on March 30, 2007 from 10am – 3pm in Gymnasium
- 300 kids are expected, (Kindergarten – first graders) she
needs the help of SILSSA to get volunteers
- Pratt t-shirts will be available to volunteers so children
can spot them easily
- Lauren will email the listserv about this event, Alicia
will blog it
Speaker coming to Pratt
- Author/Scholar DeZengotita will be talking about latest
work, Mediated at Pratt on April 20th at 6pm
- The Dean and Dr. Walczyk are heading this up
- Wine will be provided
