Meeting Minutes

November 15, 2004

SILSSA Officers in Attendance:

President, Aimee MacLagger

President MacLagger began the meeting at 5:30 p.m. by welcoming everyone and thanking them for attending. She then announced that SILSSA is trying to win the best ALA chapter group award. SILLSA is also making a guide of what SILSSA is and does (basically a how-to guide for the next administration). She then reminded everyone that new officers will be elected in the Spring, and that everyone who is interested should run for office.

SILSSA will hold another book swap for the Spring ’05 semester.

The holiday party will be Dec. 16th, 5:30 to 6:30 in the cyber café. Please plan to attend! There will also be a happy hour afterwards. President MacLagger requested that a clean up committee be formed.

Secretary Gale announced that the deadline to submit to Keyword will be December 20th.

Karyn Hinkle updated the students as to the ALA midwinter trip: We will be going to Boston for the midwinter event, with many thanks to Dean Giannini and SILS for financial aid to make this happen!

Vice President McLeod delivered an update regarding the Spring break trip: SILSSA will be going to London. She will be working with Dean Giannini to plan customized trips. Please email Kaura Gale at kgale@pratt.edu if you have suggestions.

Liorah Golomb informed the group that a tour to CNN has been planned and to stay tuned to the listserv for more information. She then requested an update as to what SILSSA is doing to improve the 654 class. Treasurer Dollinger stated that she will be attending the upcoming faculty meeting and to please email her with concerns.
