Paper clips/staples
A multiple page paper must be secured! Your paper may only be 4 pages long, but your teacher will also be carrying home all of the other students' papers and although teachers usually hate to admit this (I'm a teacher and I definitely hate to admit this) sometimes we drop them. If the papers are clipped or stapled together - no problem. If they're not... Even if that doesn't happen, it's easy enough for one or two miscellaneous pages to get mixed up. Staple or paper clip your paper on the left-hand top corner. One staple or paperclip is enough. Check when you are stapling or clipping that the pages are in order. If you are handing in draft versions and notes or research materials as well as the final copy, make sure that your final copy is the first paper. Do not hide it at the back. (Your teacher could, mistakenly, grade you on an older and less developed draft!)
Folders
One word: NO!
It is tempting to want to dress up your paper, but a folder or envelope is simply an encumbrance for your teacher and will just add weight and bulk to a pile of papers. Take pity on them! Also think of it this way... they will feel more kindly towards your work if they don't have to heft it home then spend five minutes trying to get it open!
