Past Courses

Prior to joining Pratt, I was one of eleven Post-Doctoral Fellows involved in the development and teaching of SCNC C1100: Frontiers in Science, part of the undergraduate Core Curriculum at Columbia University. This course explores the most dynamic, big-issue research in four major areas of the sciences (e.g. nanotechnology, climate change, neuroscience, quantum physics, biodiversity...) with the aim of exploring the "habits" of scientific thought, including critical reading of scientific arguments, understanding assumptions, and interpreting quantitative data.

I have also contributed to the River Summer Field Course offered through Pace University, Barnard College, and the Environmental Consortium of Hudson Valley Colleges and Universities. In the summer of 2005, I led the course segment on sediment and contaminant transport in the Upper Hudson River. Pictures from the course are available at the River Summer website.
