LIS653 Knowledge Organization
This course covers concepts of knowledge/information organization and subject analysis. The material includes basic principles and applications of descriptive cataloging and classification, authority control and different types of catalogs. Also covered are the uses of MARC records and metadata, strategies for user-centered cataloging and classification, principles of abstracting and indexing and the rapidly changing knowledge organization systems.

LIS608 Human Information Behavior (Fall 2008)
This course examines the concept of information, information needs, and the process of seeking information. Models of information behavior and major theories, paradigms, and perspectives related to information seeking are addressed. Characteristics of information seeking behavior are explored as they relate to individuals and groups in various social roles, demographic areas and occupations as wel as issues related to user-centered service and system design.
