The course focuses on Afrosurrealism as a creative practice that aims to usher in a new world. The theory-praxis course weaves together the critical works of the Caribbean nationals who sought liberation in surrealism and creative practitioners such as Amiri Baraka, Toni Morrison, and Kara walker. In this introduction to Black aesthetics, the class operates as a community that gatherers collective and individual impressions in the landscape and language to encourage lives experience in Afrosurrealism for shared and individual projects.
