Off-Campus Referral
In addition to the residence halls on campus, we also offer a referral service to those students who opt to live off-campus. We constantly receive listings from landlords, realtors and brokers who would like to advertise their living accommodations. We receive listings for housing in the immediate Pratt neighborhood, locally (Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill, etc.), in Manhattan, Queens, and sometimes in New Jersey (Hoboken, etc.). We keep a working file of this in our office and on our website which is updated on a regular basis. These listings found on the link below are made available for active members of the Pratt community (students, faculty and staff). If you are a landlord/realtor who wish to list an apartment for rent/share, you may post your listing at the link below and once it’s approved will be available for Pratt students to view. Don’t forget to let us know when the apartment has been rented so that we can remove the listing.
To submit a listing for the Pratt community, please join our Facebook group called Pratt Roommate Search. Once a member of the group, you can view and comment on all existing posts, and create your own post for members to view and comment on.
Regarding our Pratt Roommate Search group, please keep posted materials about properties for rent; you can include images, and your name and contact information you prefer.
Any Pratt Roommate Search group posts that are not directly related to assisting members in finding potential off campus housing options may be deleted without notification, and the member may be removed without warning.
If you have any questions, please let us know.
This information is provided as a service to the Pratt community and to our prospective students who have been accepted to the Institute. Access to contact information detail requires using your OneKey signin credentials. Please keep in mind that some of the information in the listings may have changed in the time since we have received and posted it here on our web site. If you have any questions or concerns about these listings, please feel free to contact us.
The New York City Department of Buildings provides “Tips for Renters.”
An excellent resource for “What Every New Yorker Needs To Know About Rental Housing” can be found at www.housingnyc.com/html/guide/basics.html, with information about types of housing, rent stabilizatioin, fees, leases, subletting, tenant responsibilities, and more. For other off campus housing options, you can check out the Real Estate section of the New York Times and the Village Voice. Students have also told us they’ve had success with www.craigslist.com, www.studenthousing.org (this is a site for privately owned residence hall style setup), and www.apartmentlist.com.
