Pratt Institute and Brooklyn Law School sponsor this program that leads to the degrees of Master of Science in City and Regional Planning and Juris Doctor (JD).
Pratt Institute and Brooklyn Law School (BLS) have created an open door allowing Pratt students to take selected courses at BLS, and vice versa (exchange). Pratt and BLS also sponsor a program leading to the degrees of Master of Science in City and Regional Planning and Juris Doctor (J.D.) (dual degree).
Under the exchange program, enrolled Pratt students can take courses at BLS by registering for a Pratt “PEX” course. Students pay Pratt tuition and there are no additional fees. Students can take up to 15 credits under this arrangement, and PEX credits will count toward the 20 credits of CRP electives. Enrolled Pratt students must contact the Assistant to the Chair, Sandy Hetzel, shetzel@pratt.edu to register for a course under the exchange program.
Under the dual degree program, students must apply to and be accepted to both schools independently. (Note that BLS admits only in Fall). The LSAT is required. The joint degree can be pursued either simultaneously or sequentially, providing that 15 or more credits of the Pratt MS are completed after matriculation at BLS. Students seeking to pursue the degrees simultaneously must speak first with the Financial Aid offices at both Pratt and BLS. Financial aid is conferred only when students carry a full load at a single institution, and for Pratt that is 9 credits.
