Alicia Imperiale, School of Architecture Assistant Dean and Adjunct Professor, presented her current book project, Machine Consequences, at the Pratt SoA Women Faculty Lecture and Lunch on Thursday, February 20. Her work, which has been supported by a Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts Research Grant, provocatively posits that artistic agency can engage productively with machines, from the Xerox printer to the dot matrix printer, laser cutter and scanner, CNC mill, 3D printer, and the robotic arm, and disrupt and reimagine their intended purpose in a way that challenges traditional notions of art and technology.

Pratt SoA Faculty Kathleen Dunne and Karen Bausman organized the semiannual lecture, which was underwritten by the Pratt SoA Dean’s Office.
