On Monday, March 24, 2024, the 5th year Undergraduate Architecture studio, “Vertical Urban Utopias,” under Professors Michael Trencher and Kathleen Dunne and assisted by Professors Shannon Hayes and Scott Deng, hosted an evening workshop with participants from the Council on Tall Buildings in the Urban Habitat (CTBUH), New York City Chapter.
Professionals from several Global and New York City firms attended. Each professional, in a desk crit formula, worked with the students directly, giving them advice on everything Tall Building: program, structure and form, along with commentary on the ecological and sociological implications of the students’ particular focus. The event was enjoyed by all, and the students were particularly pleased to receive directed commentary. They also gained a better understanding of the collaboration process required for a successful design team.
