As a Graphic Design student in the Associate Degree Department, you will be immersed in studio courses from day one. Our intensive programs deliver the same number and level of art and design courses as a BFA program in half the time by eliminating gen-ed courses. This allows us to give students a complete education as quickly and efficiently as possible. You will begin with foundational art and design courses that set the basis for advanced courses in graphic design, communication design, package design, interactive media, typography and more.

Focused, efficient, and embedded in a tight-knit community, our two-year Graphic Design Associate Degree program gives you access to core components of the Pratt experience in a highly intensive curricular experience. You will work with faculty at the forefront of their industries in a carefully curated program to prepare you for your next step.

State of the Art Tools

Through rigorous attention to production, technique, and contemporary aesthetics, you’ll develop your art and design practice and with it, agency to create change. You will have access to traditional art and design studios, labs with cutting edge hardware and software and print facilities with endless possibilities.

Internships

New York is full of opportunities for internships in the Graphic Design fields. We encourage all our second year AOS students to gain invaluable experience through an internship. Using what has been learned in the classroom, you will get a feel for real-world implementation and the challenges and rewards that come from working in your chosen field. Once you have found an opportunity of interest, we will help guide you along the application process. Our students have held internships in a range of industries, from The Painting Center to Marvel Studios.

The AOS program is a professional degree designed for high school graduates and adults with or without previous college experience. This is an intensive, two-year, all art-and-design-based curriculum, offering a strong foundation in design along with capstone courses, internship opportunities, and a professional portfolio upon graduation. The program attracts highly motivated students who, upon completing their studies, move quickly into the fields of graphic design, advertising, illustration, web design, game design, package design, and publishing, as well as an array of interactive media fields.
