Commencement Marshals

Be part of the pomp and circumstance as we welcome graduates, friends and family members to campus during the most celebratory time of the year. Volunteer marshals are needed particularly at the commencement ceremony, and there are a wide range of roles to suit your interests and abilities!

Event Volunteers

Event volunteers engage directly with graduates and visiting guests by providing directions, guidance, and a celebratory atmosphere. They play a vital role to many families who are visiting New York City and engaging with our Pratt community for the first time during this celebration.

Marshals

Marshals organize and usher graduating students and faculty members during the commencement ceremony. These roles, open to Pratt staff, are critical to the success of the ceremony.

  • Academic Marshal – Organizes and leads faculty and administrators during the academic procession
  • Student Marshal – Assists graduating students with lobby check-in and seating in the house.
  • Check-in Marshal – Positioned at entrances, assists marshals, faculty, and guests as they enter Radio City Music Hall, and fields ADA and accessibility requests.
  • Specialty Marshal – Assist with other specialized positions, including musicians, walkies, honoree handling, and more.
