HAD-622P Antique Chic: Trends and Traditions in Ancient Mediterranean Design

This course explores the cultural production of the broader ancient Mediterranean region (including Egypt, Greece, and Rome, from ca. 4500 BCE to 550 CE) in the areas of fashion and textiles, interior design and decoration, graphic design, illustration, packaging, and large-scale production, with an interpretive focus on cross-cultural and cross-media connections and borrowings. The course includes student designed discussions, an independent research project, and (conditions allowing) group museum visits.
