  • SS-217TP-01

    Tuesday

    2:00 pm – 4:50 pm

    North Hall, 114

The course provides an introductory survey of key topics and views in aesthetics: the study of theories of art and aesthetic experience. Topics include: historically prominent theories of the nature of art; challenges to the view that art can be defined; theories of aesthetic judgment and taste; exploration of different kinds of aesthetic experience; and how we interpret works of art for their meanings. Through discussion and written assignments, students will reflect on issues in aesthetics in relation to their major field of study at Pratt.
