    Tuesday

    5:00 pm – 7:50 pm

    Higgins Hall North, 406A

This course explores how diverse forms of public markets, street vending, and other micro-economic activities contribute to the wider social, environmental, health, and economic impact of urban public spaces. The course also examines how and why formal and informal microeconomic activities are undervalued, and often threatened, in cities around the world. Case studies are used to explore specific public space design, management, and policy strategies that support small-scale economic activity and promote more equitable and inclusive local economies and places.
