An intensive design + fabrication focused study abroad experience in partnership with MASS Design and based in Kigali, Rwanda for students to engage and explore the furniture design process in a regional, artisan driven context. Students will have the opportunity to work alongside traditional craftsmen to develop, prototype, and produce furnishings to address the needs of a local site. We will visit, learn from, and work alongside the MASS. Made design team to better understand and facilitate a knowledge exchange between Pratt students and local artisans, as well as visit various locations across Rwanda to develop a better understanding of the context, history, needs and expertise available locally.
