How to Submit Your Critical Conversation Event

Critical Conversations are structured and inclusive programs designed to encourage open dialogue, understanding, and solidarity within our diverse campus community through engaging and meaningful discussions on complex and challenging cultural, social, political, and global topics. They provide a platform for collective learning and elevate critical consciousness, cultural awareness, leadership, advocacy, and global citizenship.

Under the theme “Critical Conversations: Bridging Pathways Forward,” this series invites all community members to explore and engage with curiosity, empathy, mutual respect, and intellectual rigor. We’re seeking a variety of impactful program submissions, including: 

  1. Community Outings: Field trips or excursions that offer immersive experiences to social justice, community service, or cultural exploration.
  2. Resilience Workshops: Sessions focused on building personal and collective resilience, navigating challenges, and nurturing growth.
  3. Skills Building and Resource Sharing: Workshops or training sessions that develop essential skills for effective communication, leadership, activism, and civic participation.
  4. Artwork, Shows, and Exhibitions: Creative works reflecting themes of intersectionality, various identities, and community solidarity.
  5. Plenaries and Panels: Discussions with experts and leaders on pressing societal issues, encouraging diverse perspectives and solutions.
  6. Lectures and Guest Speakers: Insights from scholars and practitioners on civic engagement, resiliency, and restorative justice.
  7. Civil Discourse and Open Dialogues: Forums for respectful conversations on critical issues affecting our campus community and beyond.
  8. Town Halls: Community gatherings for open discussion on various perspectives and relevant topics.
  9. Movie Screenings: Screenings of films addressing social justice topics and discussions on their impact.
  10. Civic Engagement Opportunities: Projects encouraging participation in democratic processes and community involvement, such as “Know Your Rights” and voter registration drives.
  11. Educational Discussions: Conversations enhancing understanding of civic responsibilities and social justice principles, including teach-ins.
  12. Community Service Projects: Activities supporting local and global communities, and promoting unity, mutual aid, and active citizenship.
