Pratt students swept the 2022 IESNYC Student Lighting Competition, with Joanne Wu, BID ’24, winning the grand prize; Shuhao Xuanyuan, BID ’25, winning second prize; Mehul Bhargava, BID ’25, winning third prize; and Cass Carl, BID ’24, Hae Ji Nam, BID ’23, Constantina Tzanides, BID ’24, and Siyu Xiao, BID ’24, receiving honorable mentions.
Adjunct Associate Professor – CCE of Architecture Eunjeong Seong moderated conversations at symposia in conjunction with the opening of an exhibition she co-curated at the University of Houston, Is Housing Still Housing? Houston’s Single House. The exhibition suggests “a need for a renewed term for the broader climate, economic and social aspects that will reshape shelter over the coming decades.”
The first Pratt Munson Art Market was featured in WKTV. “For the students, it gives them a chance to show their work, but it also gives them a chance to articulate what it’s about, what their goals are, and what they’re hoping to do,” Pratt Munson Dean Suzanne Snyder said. “It allows them to start thinking about how they’ll market themselves in two years when they graduate.”
E-Flux published an in-depth essay of Chair of Photography Shannon Ebner’s work. “Ebner’s photographs center on, and worry at, how expected circuits of information, material, and reaction can alternately get severed or established anew—when material damage or wear and tear might cause a billboard to be junked or pulled from use, yet its painted or printed letters still keep signifying regardless.”
Professor of Writing James Hannaham reviewed a new exhibition by Julius Eastman and Glenn Ligon at 52 Walker in 4Columns.
SCPS Lecturer Garrett Benisch was quoted throughout a recent Food & Wine article about compostable cups. “Everything that you do with your dollar and your time in 2025 is going to decide 2028 regulation,” Benisch added. “We need change to happen.”
Mark Reyes, BFA Film ’20, was mentioned in Fangoria Magazine for his film, The House of Weird, which will be showing at the Boston Underground Film Festival.
Interim Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Jazmin A. Peralta has received the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education (NADOHE) Individual Leadership Award for their “important work and exceptional contributions in advancing the understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusive excellence in higher education.” The awards were presented at the 2025 NADOHE Annual Conference in Chicago, held from March 5-8.
Emily Riding, BFA Fashion Design ’18, was profiled in StyleBlueprint in an article that focuses on her career in fashion. “While I was getting to the root of my process and my values at Pratt, I started paying closer attention to handmade crafts.”
Gertrude Käsebier, who enrolled in Pratt Institute in 1889, is included on Phoblographer’s list of “16 Iconic Women Photographers Who Shaped Photography as We Know It Today.”
