Monica Santos Gil, BID ’15, is featured in a round-up of Puerto Rican fashion brands by Refinery29. “Founded by Monica Santos Gil after years of working in and witnessing the wastefulness of the fast fashion industry, Santos by Monica is a New York City-based sustainable brand known for its geometric bags crafted from cactus leather.”

“Tracing,” a typography by Yichen Wang, MFA Communications Design ‘22, won the Iron A’ Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Category. The prestigious recognition is awarded to “good designs that meet the professional and industrial requirements expected from well-designed creations.”

Professor of Social Science and Cultural Studies Uzma Rizvi presented Caring for MohenjoDaro for AIA Archaeology Hour. The talk focused on “the neighborhood of DK-G South, and look[ed] for indicators of care in the many ways the ancient inhabitants maintained their lived environment over generations.” Watch the full lecture here.

Nanoka Umehara, who is currently studying Communications Design (Graphic Design) at Pratt Munson, designed the logo chosen for the 2025 America’s Greatest Heart Run & Walk, an annual fundraising event held at Utica University. “Having an opportunity to design for a big event is very inspiring,” Umehara said. “I think it was an important step for me as a designer who’s interested in making logos.”
