For LGBTQ History Month, @prattinstitute shared the work of alumna Michela Griffo who has since 1970 organized for lesbian rights and inclusion within the women’s movement. Recently she worked with the Generations Project to create the Stonewall Time Capsule and also exhibited in the 2019 Art after Stonewall: 1969–1989 traveling exhibition. Read more @prattinstitute.

The School of Information received a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to support a partnership with the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center National Archive; Franklin Furnace Archive, Inc; and the Lesbian Herstory Archives to expand its graduate fellowship program for emerging LAM (library, archive, and museum) professionals to better serve diverse communities and collections.

Pietro Quintino Sella, MID ’21, was selected as one of the best global design graduates by Antenna, which is part of the annual Dutch Design Week that was held this October. He presented his thesis project the Subline which explores the possibility of underground rail-bicycles that could be installed on disused subway lines in Manhattan.

Karina Sharif, BFA Fashion Design ’08, was featured in Vice’s i-D magazine as part of the BTF100, a list of Black creatives, artists, and tastemakers making an impact on art and media. The article highlights her artwork that involves wearable paper sculptures, photography, and set design: “I tend to think of Black womxn and our minds, [our] voices, as a map. All we need to do is connect in order to continually see and contribute to the vision.”
