A Critical Conversations Event
The National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education (NADOHE), in partnership with the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) and Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation (TRHT) Campus Centers, will hold a national convening of up to 300 student leaders to engage in facilitated dialogues on the future of student belonging, diversity, and equity in higher education, and to address whether our current democracy is attentive to the needs of all individuals and communities. The Amplifying Student Voices (ASV) event will be a hybrid convening on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 30 campus host sites across the country. Students can be nominated or may nominate themselves. Interested students will be asked to provide their contact information and complete a short survey with questions about their educational background. The deadline for student applications across all sites is September 9, 2024.
It is important that higher education hear and engage students in charting our path forward. Student voices are necessary to make higher education work, and student perspectives gathered during this convening will help inform NADOHE’s efforts as an organization, and those of our members as well as business, community, and nonprofit leaders seeking to advance more equitable and inclusive environments. Student input also will aid future partnerships among students, faculty, staff, community organizations, and policymakers to create a collaborative environment for addressing inequalities and full participation in higher education regardless of one’s identity.
This event is part of Critical Conversations: creating space for and educating one another about our multiple cultural contexts, activism, civil discourse, and academic engagement.
