Join us for a conversation with author Fern Tiger and Yazmany Arboleda, NYC’s Inaugural People’s Artist at the Civic Engagement Commission about the power of the arts to democratize local decision-making. “Creative Instigation” is published by New Village Press, NYU Press, 2024. Copies will be available.

Author Fern Tiger has designed and facilitated scores of projects throughout the U.S. that have engaged communities, organizations, institutions, and public agencies in solving controversial issues and overcoming power gaps in strategic, innovative, and meaningful ways.

Yazmany Arboleda is a Colombian-American artist based in New York City known for his thought-provoking and immersive installations that engage with complex social, cultural, and political themes. He serves as the first People’s Artist for New York City at the Civic Engagement Commission.

Alex Strada is the Civic Engagement Fellow at Pratt Fine Arts; Eve Baron is the Chair of Pratt’s Graduate Center for Planning and the Environment.
