A Critical Conversations Event

Please join us at 5:30pm on February 27th, 2025 for a lecture and roundtable discussion with Niels Datema, Mass.Made Director, and Casey Rogers, Inzu Co-Founder, at the Alumni Reading Room, Pratt Institute Library to discuss artisan focused design practices.

The lecture will be followed by the opening of Design with Artisans: Weaving Connections in Rwanda at the Juliana Curran Terian Gallery at the Design Center, Pratt Institute. This exhibition showcases the collaboration between students, Rwandan artisans, and MASS.Made, blending creativity and craftsmanship to produce innovative furniture. Through this partnership, students learn sustainable design practices while advancing MASS Design Group’s mission to create positive social impact through design. This initiative celebrates cultural exchange, supports the evolution of traditional craftsmanship, and produces global design partnerships that empower artisans.

This event is part of Critical Conversations: creating space for and educating one another about our multiple cultural contexts, activism, civil discourse, and academic engagement.
