First-Year Conversations: Engaging Communities
February 25, 2025 12:30 PM – 1:50 PM
Student Union, 200 Willoughby Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11205

Please join us on February 25th at 12:30pm in the Student Union for a presentation, discussion and activity around course-based civic engagement work at Pratt — work that develops professional skills through collaboration with community partners and embodies core Pratt values. We’ll look at the different models for Civic Engagement in Pratt’s classrooms, talk about the kinds of work being done and examine the rewards and possibilities for students when engaging with communities beyond Pratt campus! This is the ninth installment in the biannual First-Year Conversations series, a regularly recurring set of conversations exploring how fundamental concepts are transformed when taken up in different media and disciplines. While the event is designed for first-year students who concurrently explore this concept in their classes, everyone in the Pratt community is warmly welcome to attend what promises to be a vibrant interdisciplinary conversation. Refreshments will be served.
