Her Practice: the architecture of Debora Reiser
September 12, 2024 6:15 PM – 7:30 PM
Pratt Institute, Higgins Hall Auditorium, 61 St. James Place, Brooklyn 11238
The Pratt School of Architecture is hosting an exhibition of one of the first women graduates from the Bachelor of Architecture program at Pratt Institute. Curated by Jesse Reiser and Nanako Umemoto, the exhibition showcases Debora’s 75-year career in architecture exemplified an uncompromising commitment to a “feminist total design” at a time when women had yet to be fully accepted within the discipline and profession.
On September 12th at 6:15 pm there will be a conversation, a celebration of Reiser’s life, which will be structured around an open conversation with people who have worked with Debora Reiser, clients, and others who will speak to her importance. It is structured as a series of short 5-minute talks, which set the stage for a lively conversation with the audience followed by a reception and viewing of the exhibition.
This event is open to the public and will be recorded.
