Join us for a co-sponsored Pratt-RISD virtual conversation between Dana Moreshead (BFA ’90 Communications Design), who has held roles at Marvel, 20th Century Fox, Disney, and Cirque du Soleil, and RISD alum Sol Armada de la Cruz (BFA ’92 Apparel Design) Director, Retail Strategy & Development, Global Themed Entertainment at Warner Bros. Discovery. Hear about their personal and professional journeys working in live shows/experiences, theme parks, consumer products, IP licensing and more. The conversation will be moderated by LA Alumni Network Chair Bruce Dominguez (BA ’03 Computer Graphics).
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Dana Moreshead
Dana Moreshead is a creative professional with a knack for crafting unforgettable products and experiences. He’s worked on everything from themed attractions and merchandise development to branding and marketing projects. Over the years, Dana has worked in just about every corner of the entertainment industry including film, TV, licensing, video games, publishing, and location-based experiences. He’s held roles at Marvel Entertainment, Stan Lee Media, 20th Century Fox, Disney, and Cirque du Soleil. These days, he runs his own consulting agency and guest lectures at Otis College of Art and Design. Dana’s portfolio features some of the world’s most recognized IPs, including: Spider-Man, the X-Men, Hulk, the Simpsons, Avatar, Star Wars, Dora the Explorer, Miraculous, and National Geographic. He’s a proud graduate of Pratt, class of 1990.
Sol Armada de la Cruz
Sol Armada de la Cruz came to the continental US, from her hometown of San Juan, Puerto Rico, to pursue her BFA at Rhode Island School of Design, where she specialized in Fashion Design. Starting her career in New York as a designer at Tommy Hilfiger, over the next 14 years Sol held several positions from Merchandiser to Creative Director in the Licensed Brand industry. As Creative Director, she worked with US retail clients, such as Wal Mart, Target, & many others in developing programs around Sanrio, Disney & Marvel to name a few. In addition, she worked with clients & retailers worldwide overseeing trend forecasting, design, sourcing & manufacturing.
For the last 16 years with Warner Bros Discovery, she has reimagined retail as part of the Global Experiences team, redefining what it means to connect with brands. Focusing on the evolution of the Harry Potter theme parks globally, opening new markets via traveling Harry Potter & DC exhibitions, & challenging what “exit through the gift shop” means for millions of park & exhibition guests in North America, Europe, Asia & the Middle East. Current projects include Universal Parks & Experiences, Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi, Six Flags, Movie World Australia, Parque Warner Madrid, to name a few!
