November Listening Circles
November 7, 2024 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Center for Equity and Inclusion
A Critical Conversations Event
You are invited to join the Indigenous Peoples’ Land Circle (IPLC) (formerly known as the Native Indigenous Working Group) for the inaugural Listening Circles from 1:00-2:00 PM on Thursday, Nov 7, Thursday, November 14, and Thursday, November 21, in the Center for Equity and Inclusion (CEI), Main Building, Lower Level, Room 004.
In honor of Native American Heritage Month, the Circle sessions are opportunities to explore specific ways to integrate the principles of Pratt Institute Living Land Acknowledgement across campus, centering indigeneity and restorative justice practices within the Pratt community.
We will discuss potential initiatives, including establishing an annual calendar of Indigenous ceremonies that bind the people to the land, advocating for the sustainable use of Indigenous land practices, and developing a campus plan for cultivating Indigenous plants in collaboration with the Lenape Center.
The Listening Circles will also hold space for community members to share concerns, ideas, and proposals as we shape a collaborative agenda for the group’s work. We encourage everyone interested in Indigenous knowledge, land stewardship, and restorative justice to join us.
Light refreshments will be provided. Register here: https://forms.gle/gck7y9NcwMoPDWW49

About: The Pratt Institute Indigenous Peoples’ Land Circle (IPLC) emerged from a desire to expand the reach and charge of the former Native Indigenous Working Group, which worked to develop the Pratt Institute Living Land Acknowledgment. The IPLC welcomes all campus members interested in Indigenous knowledge and land stewardship. As a group, the Circle continues to support the implementation of the Living Land Acknowledgement across campus. In keeping with Pratt’s expressed commitment to challenge the legacy of settler colonial harms, we advocate for Indigenous sovereignty and reparations. We strive to provide a safe haven for all people engaged in centering indigeneity, land stewardship, and restorative justice on the Pratt Institute campuses.
