Pratt in Porto Portugal – An Altered Vernacular

A presentation of the study abroad course Pratt in Porto; the second largest city in Portugal with over nine-hundred years of cultural history and some of the most innovative contemporary design in Europe. Students critically analyzed interior, architectural, urban and landscape, adaptive reuse strategies as responses to changing programmatic demands of modern life and its impact on the cultural vernacular; specifically an exponential increase in tourism and gentrification.
