Week of Mindfulness

Join us for a week of programs and events to help cultivate mindfulness, build awareness, reflect, and practice some self-care. This year we’re excited to highlight so many programs that run on a weekly basis through the Mindful Pratt Drop-Ins and Pratt Rec’s Group Exercises.
Monday, March 18
Reflection: Pause, check In – How are you feeling right now? Physically, mentally, spiritually, and socially?
11 AM – 1 PM: Kick-Off | Student Union (Main Area)
Stop by our table in the Student Union to grab a morning snack, cup of coffee or tea.
12 – 1 PM: Vinyasa Yoga w/ Andromeda | ARC UL, Studio Room – RSVP through Engage
This weekly session explores seated, standing, and supine postures, linking breath to movement in order to connect body and mind.
6 – 7 PM: Kickboxing with Tiffany | UL ARC, Dance Studio – RSVP through Engage
A full-body workout that combines meditation, shadow boxing, heavy bag work, cardio, conditioning, and body weight exercises for strength, cardio, mindfulness, and overall personal empowerment.
Tuesday, March 19
Reflection: Creativity – What does your joy look like? (Draw, write, dance, build, etc. a representation)
8:30 – 9 AM: Mindful Drawing | Virtual on Zoom – Join through Zoom
A 20-minute practice that involves creating alongside your meditation practice. You’ll want something to draw with and on.
9 – 10 AM: Yoga Basics & Core with Narisara | ARC UL, Dance Studio – RSVP through Engage
This weekly session focuses more on alignment in the postures, stretching, breathing, meditation – more of the recovery and stress-releasing mode.
Wednesday, March 20
Reflection: Relationships – Think of somebody who had an impact on your life, write about that impact (you may even consider sharing it with them)
12 – 1 PM: Walk Club – Bittersweet Coffee | Meet in lobby of ARC – Register Here
Take a walk through the neighborhood to Bittersweet Coffee and learn more about this local business.
1 – 1:30 PM: Breath Break | Virtual over Zoom – Join through Zoom
A 20-minute meditation practice in order to create a space for pause within the day.
5:30 – 6:30 PM: LENS Method Foundation Workshop: Mindfulness through Intentional Photography of Nature | Student Union 203 – RSVP here
Harness the power of symbolic sight and learn how you can tap into the L.E.N.S. Method to co-create your life. This unique and inspiring live class is led by the creator of The L.E.N.S. Method, award-winning photographer, and Pratt Alumna, Carey Kirkella. This session is smartphone camera-friendly.
Thursday, March 21
Reflection: Growth – What can you do today that you didn’t think you could do a year ago?
8:30 – 9 AM: Midweek Mantra | Virtual over Zoom – Join through Zoom
Mantra meditation involves the silent repetition of a word or phrase as the point of focus to help hone a more focused awareness.
12:30 – 1 PM: Breath Break | Virtual Over Zoom – Join through Zoom
A 20-minute meditation practice in order to create a space for pause within the day.
1 – 2 PM: Move, Stretch, & Meditate | UL ARC, Studio room – RSVP through Engage
This class focuses breathing techniques, stretching, and being still in thought.
5 – 6 PM: Mat Pilates with Michelle | UL ARC, Studio Room – RSVP through Engage
This class is based on the principles and essential exercises of Pilates mat work. You will learn about “grounding” and focus on the fundamentals of proper postural alignment, breathing, coordination, and movement patterns to help you activate your core muscles or “powerhouse”!
Friday, March 22
Reflection: Gratitude – What is something you’re grateful for today?
8:30 – 9 AM: Mindfulness, Meditation and Visualization | Virtual over Zoom – Join through Zoom
A 20 minute guided meditation to create a calm, centered and concentrated mind/body connection.
11:45 AM – 1 PM: Sound Bath Sessions | East Building 001 (Center for Career & Professional Development) – RSVP Here
Please join fellow artist, Suzanne Watters, a second year MFA candidate for a restorative and meditative Sound Bath. Feel rested and connected through the relaxation tools and techniques of poetry, breath and sound. Suzanne reads her own poetry and plays multiple instruments (some made by her) that will help clear your energy centers, raise your vibrational level and feel blissfully in the moment. Suzanne will be joined by sound healing practitioner Matias Seijas.
Yoga mats and cushions are available, but please feel free to bring your own yoga mat, blanket and pillow.

Learn the art of Japanese sword with Sensei Mitchell Ratchik – Godan (5th DAN) Ryushin Shouchi Ryu (柳心照智流)
