The Black Studies Minor (15 credits) hosts classes offered across Pratt Institute that focus on Black aesthetic philosophies and design practices, culture, history and politics. The program is transnational and comparative, encompassing the Black diasporan world. Students will learn about the histories of slavery, colonialism, global capitalism, migration and incarceration across the globe as well as the histories of the political and social movements organized to resist racialized forms of oppression. The Minor is for students who wish to bring Black Studies-situated critical approaches to bear in their own medium.
