Steven Doloff, professor in Pratt’s Department of Humanities and Media Studies, has received a 2019 New York Emmy Award. The winners were announced at the 62nd annual New York Emmy Awards held on May 4. The award recognizes his work as co-executive producer on the “If I Loved You and the Return of the Iceman” episode of the television series Theater Talk.
The show is produced by Theater Talk Productions, Inc., and broadcast on PBS/Thirteen and other PBS stations around the country. Doloff won with the Theater Talk Productions team, which includes executive producer and co-host Susan Haskins-Doloff, Doloff’s wife who taught Intensive English at Pratt for over 20 years and was an Adjunct in the Institute’s Arts and Cultural Management program. They also won a New York Emmy Award in 2017 for the “Talk to Remember” episode of Theater Talk.
“If I Loved You and the Return of the Iceman” was the winner in the interview/discussion category, and explores two recent Tony-nominated revivals on Broadway. First, actors Joshua Henry and Jessie Mueller perform a pivotal scene from the Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical Carousel, and then director George C. Wolfe discusses the revival of Eugene O’Neill’s play The Iceman Cometh which starred Denzel Washington.
The Emmy Awards are administered by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and recognize excellence in various areas of television. The 2019 ceremony was held at the Marriott Marquis in Manhattan. A full list of awardees is available online.
