J. Roger Guilfoyle, retired longtime faculty member who served for nearly 50 years at Pratt Institute, passed away on October 20, 2021. He was 83.
After coming to Pratt in 1969, Guilfoyle taught in the History of Art and Design Department, the Associate Degree Program, and most recently the Graduate Communications Design Department, where he also served as acting chair from 2007 to 2008. He was conferred CCE, or Certificate of Continuous Employment, status at Pratt in fall 1999 and continued teaching until his retirement in spring 2018.
As his obituary notes, Guilfoyle “filled his life with art, literature, and politics. He saw beauty all around him.” The full obituary can be viewed on Tribute Archive.
