Biography
Amit Kalra is an artist and educator. He guides students in analyzing patterns within systems and human behavior to develop critical interventions. His work, shaped by this inquiry, has been exhibited in the United States, Belgium, and the Netherlands. He has presented artist talks at Sarah Lawrence College, Campbellsville University’s Dialog on Race series, and SECAC’s annual conference. Kalra has been a resident at the Vermont Studio Center and a Pratt Production Lab Fellow. Before his career in art and education, he worked as an aide in the United States Senate and has worked extensively in India and China. He holds a master’s degree from the Royal College of Art’s School of Design and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa.
