Dr. Ashley Lee is an Assistant Professor in the School of Information at Pratt Institute NYC. She is a scholar of tech, civic life, and social movements. Her research and public writing address the design and use of emerging technologies and their implications for democracy, social equality, and civil society, with a focus on youth and marginalized communities. Prior to joining Pratt, Dr. Lee was a Postdoctoral Scholar with the Digital Civil Society Lab at Stanford University’s Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society. Outside academia, she has worked at the intersection of computer science, design research, and tech policy at Microsoft Research, Stanford Research Institute (SRI), and the United Nations, among others.
