Biography
Frederick Biehle is a practicing architect and long standing adjunct professor. He represents the third generation of a northern Ohio family dedicated to the fine and decorative arts. In 1986 he was awarded the Rome Prize Fellowship in Architecture allowing him to live and study in Italy for two years. He has traveled extensively in the Mediterranean region researching and documenting the architecture of antiquity. His drawings and architectural works have been exhibited and published widely. He founded his own firm together with Erika Hinrichs in 1997. For the past 10 years he has offered the studio “Reinventing Public Housing” which seeks to reurbanize NYCHA superblock sites. He has presented this work at ACSA International, AHRA, and IMCL conferences. For the past 25 years he has served as the coordinator of the UA Rome Program. He has presented papers on the program’s pedagogy at ACSA and AACCP conferences and in 2017 pubished the book “Incremental Urbanisms.” He currently serves as Adjunct Professor of Architecture, CCE and continues as Coordinator of the Rome Program.
