Jasmine Chavez Helm-Berrios grew up in La Puente, CA and New York City. They earned their BA in art history from Cal State University Fullerton and their MA in the Fashion and Textile Studies: History, Theory, Museum Practice program at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

Jasmine has worked as curator and archivist in Los Angeles and New York. They are passionate about exploring the cross-cultural intersections between history, art, fashion, media, and people.

In 2015, Jasmine co-founded Unravel: A Fashion Podcast with Dana Goodin, and Joy Davis, which focused on fashion history. They co-hosted and produced episodes with their team while managing digital content on Unravel’s website.

Jasmine’s current research and archive Recuerdos de Nicaragua @recuerdosdenicaragua focuses on the dress, textile, and material culture of the Indigenous and Afro-communities in the Atlantic Coast of Nicaragua.
