Joseph Giampietro is a designer working and living in New York City. Originally from Youngstown, Ohio, Joseph is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where he obtained a Master of Architecture degree and a certificate in Emerging Design and Research. His work has been displayed in the Venice Biennale, and published in numerous architecture and design publications. His collaboration with the LA based design office Hirsuta, won the first place prize for the Last House on Mulholland design competition. His interests lately have meandered between challenging modes of representation across mediums, investigating other sensorial environments (touch, sound, sight, feeling), and the aesthetics of estranged architectural components/ elements. His recent inquiry into space and architecture is largely through the medium of sound where sound and space share a reciprocal relationship. Joseph currently teaches graduate architecture design studios at the University of Pennsylvania and Pratt Institute, and a Junior Architect at Moment Architecture in NYC
