Mariel Collard

Biography
Mariel Collard is a designer and educator. She is an Assistant Professor at Pratt Institute and has been part of the Master of Landscape Architecture since its inaugural year in 2022. Her work explores landscape methods that prioritize slow observation, first-hand engagement, and material experience in the face of the climate crisis. Mariel’s research investigates the spatial heritage of coloniality, highlighting traditions and practices of resistance in landscapes beyond the city. She holds a Master in Landscape Architecture and a Master in Design Studies (Risk & Resilience) from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. She earned a Professional Degree in Architecture from Universidad Iberoamericana and is a registered architect in Mexico, where she has extensive professional experience. Prior to joining Pratt, Mariel was a lecturer at McGill University.
