Biography
Megs Wacha is a librarian specializing in scholarly communications at an international organization. Previously, Megs led open research and scholarly communications initiatives at the City University of New York, a federated institution of 25 colleges and 31 libraries serving the people of New York City. Megs is an active Wikipedian and the past President of Wikimedia NYC, a volunteer run non-profit that connects New Yorkers and New York institutions with Wikipedia, Wikimedia, and the larger free culture movement. They have served on advisory boards for the US Repository Network, LIS Scholarship Archive (LISSA), Wikimedia DC, CUNY Academic Commons (an open source social networking tool), and International Open Access Week. Before joining CUNY, Megs was the Research and Instruction Librarian for the Performing Arts at Barnard College of Columbia University, where they once attempted to interpret the principles of open access via modern dance.
