Michelle Standley
Biography
Michelle Standley is a historian, writer, translator, and artist. Her research interests center on postwar East Central Europe, especially Berlin; leisure travel; gender and sexuality; the Cold War; cities and globalization; migration and displacement; and moss. Standley is a Visiting Associate Professor in the Department of Social Science and Cultural Studies.

Publications and Projects
Standley’s writing on history and contemporary art have appeared in The Journal of Architecture, Brooklyn Rail, New York magazine, e-fluxus Agenda, and in edited volumes from Routledge and Berghahn Books. Documentation of her public performance, 4.5 Hours, devoted to drawing attention to unpaid domestic labor, is part of the Mormon Feminist Art Collection at Brigham Young University. She is currently finishing work on an illustrated volume on moss and lichen, entitled Moss: A Love Story.
