About Pratt Shows
Pratt Shows are public exhibitions and presentations by Pratt Institute’s graduating class. Representing years of research, exploration, critical thinking, creative inquiry, problem-solving, growth, production, practice, and accomplishment, the shows celebrate student work leading up to Commencement in May.
The shows attract a wide audience from New York City’s diverse art and design communities and beyond. Pratt Shows provide students the opportunity to professionally exhibit their work, connecting Pratt talent to industry professionals and advancing new ideas in more than 30 academic fields within architecture, art, design, information, and the liberal arts and sciences.
Bringing Pratt Shows to a broader design community, Pratt also partners with NYCxDesign, a non-profit organization that provides opportunities for NYC’s design sector, both locally and internationally.
Pratt Shows represents a collaboration between the Pratt Communications and Marketing division and the Office of the Provost, working closely with each school.
Design Concept: Organic Networks
The Pratt Shows 2024 design concept, Organic Networks, explores ways in which the properties of mycelium, a fungal biomaterial used to insulate buildings and a communication network for trees, could be developed into a design system that pays homage to Pratt’s network, on campus and beyond, and Pratt Shows’ role in facilitating those organic networks. Pratt has a long-standing commitment to sustainability and is a core partner in The New York Climate Exchange.
Developed by Pratt’s Communications and Marketing division, the design concept unites all materials produced to promote Pratt Shows 2024 in both digital and print, from advertising and signage to websites, posters, emails, and more.
