Game Design at Pratt
As a Game Design and Interactive Media student in the Associate Degree Department, you will be immersed in studio courses from day one. Our intensive programs deliver the same number and level of design courses as a BFA program in half the time by eliminating gen-ed courses. This allows us to give students a complete design education as quickly and efficiently as possible. You will begin with foundational art and design courses that set the basis for advanced courses in collaboration, production, worldbuilding, motion graphics and more.
The Experience
Focused, efficient, and embedded in a tight-knit community, our two-year Game Design Associate Degree program gives you access to core components of the Pratt experience in a highly intensive curricular experience. You will work with faculty at the forefront of their industries in a carefully curated program to prepare you for your next step.
State of the Art Tools
Through rigorous attention to production, technique, and contemporary aesthetics, you’ll develop your design practice and with it, agency to create change. You will not only have access to cutting-edge hardware and software, sound recording facilities and a green screen room but as a Game Design student in the Associate Degree department, you will be loaned a top-tier computer as well as accompanying hardware and software to use during your time with us.
Internships
New York is full of opportunities for internships in the Game Design/Development fields. We encourage all our second year AOS students to gain invaluable experience through an internship. Using what has been learned in the classroom, you will get a feel for real-world design implementation and the challenges and rewards that come from working in your chosen field. Once you have found an opportunity of interest, we will help guide you along the application process. Our students have held internships in a range of industries, from The Painting Center to Marvel Studios.
