Since 1897, Pratt Institute’s Saturday Art School has been offering a broad range of classes for children and teens. Saturday Art School students are encouraged to explore a variety of media, techniques, and approaches. This program continues to validate our belief that opportunities to learn art and design should be available to children of all ages. Saturday Art School is a teaching and learning laboratory; most classes are taught by art and design education students who are supervised by faculty.
Classes and Curriculum
All classes meet from 10 AM–12 PM for two 10-week semesters, fall and spring. Instructors explore new ideas and projects each semester and year, as participants may take classes many times. See Classes and Curriculum to learn more.
Eligibility
The program is organized by grade, so participants must meet the grade requirement – no exceptions.

“All of our children have attended classes at pratt from elementary school through high school. Our two older daughters are currently pursuing studio art majors in college. The open-ended nature of assignments and class work at pratt enabled them to explore their interests and ideas over a more extended time frame than was possible in the art classes offered in their elementary and secondary schools”
