Your application is the beginning of a lasting relationship you’ll build with the Pratt community. Amidst the deadlines, essays, and supplemental materials, we’d like to emphasize this above all: we are grateful for your time and effort, and we are eager to get to know you.
New First Year Students
Pratt’s applications open in August each year. You have two options to apply to Pratt: Early Action or Regular Decision. Both of these options are non-binding and you’ll submit your application the same way. Please find our application deadlines below.
To submit your application, apply through the Common App. There, you’ll find instructions for any portfolio requirements and additional documents to include.
Transfer Students
Pratt’s applications open in August each year. If you’re applying to transfer to Pratt from another college, your application deadline and requirements depend on the program you’re applying to join. All programs accept transfer applications for the fall semester, however Architecture, Fashion Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design, and the AAS degree programs will not accept applications for Spring start. Please note transfer seats are very limited, so applying earlier is suggested.
To apply to transfer to Pratt, submit your application through the Pratt online application.
Associate Degree Students
Pratt’s applications open in August each year. We encourage associate degree applicants to apply by the priority deadlines; however, applications will be accepted after that as long as there is room in the program. The associate degree programs (AOS only) also offer spring admission.
Choosing Your Major
During your application process, you’ll be asked to choose a major. You can learn about all of the programs we have at Pratt on our website and from the work our students are doing. Keep in mind, you’ll also have the opportunity to take classes in other majors and explore your artistic interests in almost any major you choose.
While you may apply as “undecided” if you’re applying to the Schools of Art and Design, we advise against it. You cannot pursue architecture, construction management, writing, digital arts, or critical and visual studies if you apply undecided. Though we do our best to accommodate, we also can’t guarantee that you’ll be able to select your first-choice major in the second year if you’ve applied undecided.
Check Your Application Status
After you’ve applied, you can check the status of your application anytime. Just log into the link below using your email address and the password you used when you applied. It’s important to note that it can take up to three weeks from the date we receive your materials for your checklist to update, so your status may have some delay.
