Account From David Caccamo
“I was having a discussion with Rowena about spatial organization after she had taught positive organization of lines, planes, and volumes. I said to her, ‘you can also organize negative space, can’t you?’ She looked at me with a big smile on her face and said ‘yes.’” I think that she was pleased because I had thought about it. I guess no one else had asked her that.
“I was living in the Hudson Valley area at that time, and there are a lot of old stone houses and structures such as barns here. She asked me if I would look for one that might be for sale. That was a dream of hers for a long time. A stone barn that she could turn into a house and studio. I feel that what she taught, not only about 3-D design but also about life, has followed me my entire life. I shall remember all the fond memories of Rowena until I die.”
