Jalin Kolen is a photographer born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He blends the intimate allure of portraits with the dynamic energy of street scenes. Embracing the duality of black and white alongside color imagery, Kolen explores the full spectrum of visual storytelling. In black and white, he focuses on contrasts, textures, and emotions. In color, he highlights the vibrancy and diversity of life. Finding inspiration in spontaneity and nuance, he hopes to immortalize fleeting moments and evoke a timeless essence. “In my artistic exploration, I delve into the intricate layers of identity and the journey of self-discovery. Through a deeply personal approach, I confront my perceptions, fostering an understanding of my place in the world and my connection to others. I capture moments of introspection, unveiling the ongoing quest to define and embrace my identity. Amidst challenges like rejection and despair, I navigate towards self-discovery and healing, finding relief in the vulnerability found in each image. My journey underscores the transformative power of art. Ultimately, my work stands as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, inviting viewers to embark on their own voyage of self-discovery and empowerment.”
