The Mindfulness Collaboratory

By Samantha Harvey

"The Mindfulness Collaboratory uses applied research in order to cultivate wholeness and wonder in the world through contemplative practices with programming reaching an international audience. We use a contemplative approach to leadership development by practicing self care as world care. Our contemplative community-based approach is an integral part of our valuing creative practice and provides a leadership journey that creates the fertile ground for thriving. We plan to share our research and a short ""What Grows in Your Garden"" activity using a table and poster.

Our current projects include:

  • The Leading by Intention Program focuses on contemplative leaders setting intentions to create resilient artistic communities through individual meditation skill share, mentorship through collective support, and mindful leadership. Participants learn, meditate, discuss, grow, and lead together. Now in its second iteration we will share outcomes from the inaugural cohort (which includes a 73% return rate) and the journey so far for our second cohort. Our inaugural cohort has continued to engage with the program on a higher level in order to further support their creative economy efforts.
  • The Enlightened Women’s Leadership Training that we have been developing over the past year. We will share pieces of the comprehensive, Buddhist-inspired curriculum specifically designed for women of color leaders.
  • Tailored Retreats have been developed over the past year in partnership with Brooklyn Community Services in order to help support their workforce."
